Hebrews 6:18
that by two immutable things, (His Promise and His Oath) in which
it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who
have fled (to Him) for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
Forgiveness Looks Good on You
God’s Kingdom Principles
God’s kingdom principles are the opposite of what the world teaches us.
The Word teaches if we want God’s forgiveness then we must forgive the people who have offended or sinned against us, therefore, hurting us.
Unforgiveness hardens our hearts. Our goal should be that of tenderness, compassion, gentleness and to live peaceably among all men.
When our hearts are pliable, we are sensitive to sin. Man can help to sow a forgiving attitude into our hearts, but only the Holy Spirit can reap the harvest.
When we hold onto unforgiveness, resentments, or negativity re-playing the hurts over and over in our mind we are blocking God’s forgiveness. It is a privilege of the forgiven to forgive others.
Accordingly, Job forgave his friends and God restored double to him.
Forgiveness teaches us to see past the mistakes of others into the deep truth residing in their heart. In addition, the choice to believe God’s word and His promises of forgiveness of others culminate in forgiveness for oneself.
The Throne of Grace
The prerequisite of faith and fervent prayer hinges on forgiveness. For example, had Joseph not recognized he had a big God his travels from the prison to the palace would look completely opposite. And yet, Joseph was not different than you or me. He suffered a grave injustice but chose to believe God was in it with him all the way through. No doubt about it—God was with him! Joseph chose better rather than being bitter. He remembered who was on the throne of grace, His almighty God. Joseph remembered the word which taught, “it is impossible for God to lie.” Joseph would learn first-hand just how challenging relationships could be.
Is there someone you need to forgive? You’re worth it! Do it now. Open your heart up and forgive. By doing this, you open the gateway for Jesus to fully forgive you.
Prayer Starter
Father, thank You that it is impossible for You to lie. Help us to grab ahold of your promises and oaths within Your word. Disintegrate any strongholds the enemy has placed within me causing confusion surrounding Your truth. Always remind me of the great privilege, responsibility, and blessing it is to forgive offenses right away. When we’ve been forgiven, we’ve been given much more than we can ever repay. Challenge my obedience and faithfulness to You so I experience exponential growth. Utilize my past mistakes to act as a compass forward guiding me away from sin; lead me into grace with Your will at the forefront of my life.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
